Unit 5 A Subtle Mind

This exercise seemed a little easier for me. I like the introduction that was taking me to the three levels of psycho spiritual flourishing: witnessing consciousness to calm-abiding to unity consciousness. I know that it will evolve over time. Breathing is the start to the mind / body connection. A peaceful breath equals a peaceful mind. Focusing on a focal point was easier for me and if I got distracted I looked at the distraction and returned to my breathing and focal point.

This so much reminded me of yoga and focusing on breathing.

I liked this exercise better as it was easier to understand and complete.

The Loving Mind was a good exercise but was difficult in visualizing. It seemed a lot harder and I found my self being too distracted.

  1. Hi Lil,

I also found it easier this week in participating in the three levels of psycho spiritual flourishing. I choose to focus on my breathing which was easier than focusing on a person. I beleive that it will get easier each time we practice eliminating (or watching from afar) the distracting mind chatter.

  2. Hello Lil,
I liked your post, your comment about the focal point got me thinking. I have been doing my exercises with my eyes shut. This last exercise I found difficult but also a challenge. I did not have a focal point, do you think that having one made it easier to focus? I was also wondering when you did your exercise? The loving-kindness exercise I did at night before bed and this last exercise I tried mid day. I did it after my lunch and in my office at work. That could have been the block in getting the the full impact. Thanks for the incite and I will now try a focal point with my next exercise.

    1. Hey Emily I did it twice once at night and once in the morning. I had so much to do that I was stressing the night before so I got up earlier and tried it. i had to go to the doctors 30 miles opposite my job and then drive another 50 miles to my job, my son needed to see the orth for a broken bracket and I had to go to the bank get some money and meet my attorney at 6pm. I did this and the results were amazing as I was able to focus on one thing at a time. My mind was in a different place one thing at a time then move on to the next...at times i did find myself wandering to the next but I think the more we practice the easier it will be and we will have our minds trained.

try it in the am and let me know if it is better.
      Thanks
      Lil
